Slick with blood. You have left pieces of yourself behind. Until it is all torn down, you will always be there, now. But your failure is not permanent. Is it worth the scars on your mind to try again?

>I
have not asked where and how [The Founder] procured Subjects 39-44, and am simply grateful that she has. Their greater intelligence has been an incredible boon to the project.
>The genetic similarities to humans are beneficial as well, though I believe Timothy is growing overly attached to them. [The Founder’s] condition worsens daily, we cannot be delayed by sentimentality.
>The readings showed greater confusion and less panic than the rats, an attempt to explore their new situation, but it eventually shifted into a pain response, and those who have been returned still show an increase in aggression and unpredictable behavior, though the severity has lessened. I believe the upload process must hurt, somehow. Something similar to phantom pain, perhaps? How does something feel pain when it no longer has a nervous system?
>Attempts at editing them post-upload have been marginally successful, lessening the pain response, stress response, and aggression, but are far from perfect. It is difficult to tell how effective the edits are until the subjects are returned to their bodies, and at that point they cannot be altered further without uploading them again.
